Magelang, The Indonesia Post – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo hopes that the implementation of the Borobudur Marathon 2022 Powered by Bank Jateng in Magelang Regency can stimulate the people’s economy.
“Especially for the Sunday event in the temple viewing race with nearly 5,000 participants,” he said in Magelang, Saturday.
He said that the many running athletes who stopped in Magelang had a positive impact on lodging around Borobudur Temple.
Chairman of the Borobudur Homestay Village Association, Muslih said that the Borobudur marathon had a very significant impact on homestay managers, especially those around Borobudur Temple.
According to him, the occupancy rate of the inn has even reached 80 percent. Borobudur marathon is also capable of becoming a locomotive driving tourism, especially MSMEs.
He mentioned that in his area there are as many as 30 homestays managed by the community with more than 140 rooms. One homestay unit can recruit two to three employees.
Puput Setyo, the owner of the Borobudur Mushroom, also felt positive from the Borobudur marathon event. On the first day of the Borobudur marathon, until 10.00 WIB, there were more than 200 visitors at the MSME locations it manages.
“The effect of the Borobudur marathon has greatly impacted the increase in visits, around 30 to 40 percent than usual,” he said.
As is known, there are three categories in the Borobudur marathon 2022, namely the Borobudur Marathon Elite Race and Bank Jateng Young Talent which will take place on November 12, 2022.
Then Bank Jateng Views the Temple on November 13, 2022 which will be attended by nearly 5,000 runners. (mhn/bbs)
