Strengthening Government Synergy, Governor Herman Deru Urges IPDN Alumni and Cadets to Maintain Professionalism and Communication Ethics

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru emphasized the strategic role of alumni and students of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) as the backbone of the bureaucracy. He made this statement during a gathering and iftar with the South Sumatra Provincial Board of the Alumni Association of Civil Service Higher Education (DPP IKAPTK) and students of IPDN in Palembang on Sunday (March 15, 2026).

In his direction, Herman Deru emphasized that Praja IPDN is an important anatomy in the government structure as well as a driving force for the regeneration of civil service.

“Many people have praised the empowerment of civil servants in South Sumatra because they are truly competent. I placed them in strategic positions because I believe in their technical ability to manage the government,” said Herman Deru.

However, the Governor also made an important note regarding self-development. He stated that academic and technical competencies must be balanced with strong communication skills.

“I remind you that strategic positions aren’t just about luck, but also about communication. Sometimes, there are people who are capable at work but weak in communication. Improve your communication skills to optimize your performance and effectively deliver on your mandate,” he added.

Beyond communication, Herman Deru also urged all alumni of IKAPTK to maintain neutrality and professionalism, especially as the election year approaches. He urged civil servants to remain focused on public service and avoid getting caught up in practical politics.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPP IKAPTK South Sumatra, H. Achmad Rizwan, SSTP., MM, stated the readiness of all retired civil servants and civil servants from South Sumatra to continue supporting the strategic programs of the South Sumatra Provincial Government.

This event was also enlivened by social action in the form of providing assistance to 10 orphanages in Palembang City as a form of real concern from alumni for others in the holy month of Ramadan.

Also in attendance were South Sumatra Regional Secretary H. Edward Candra and other heads of regional government agencies. (mhn/ril)
