HD: Balancing Religion, Insights and IT-Based Knowledge

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) really appreciates what has been done by the Rumah Tahfidz Yatim Duafa Foundation (RTYD) for providing educational scholarships to approximately 400 orphans and poor people from elementary to university levels. This was revealed by HD when launching the Qur’an Village owned by the RTYD Foundation.

“The concept of the building is slightly different from what we have seen so far in places of religious education, the majority of which have arabian or walisongoan styles. Let’s not argue about the shape of the building, the important thing is that the teaching and learning process runs and the children feel at home which will make them relax when participating in activities study,” said HD.

HD also hopes that the RTYD Foundation can provide a balance between religious knowledge and general insight and knowledge that adapts to developments in the IT field.

“I hope the foundation can instill from an early age that Islam is peaceful and flexible. There’s no point in him being smart if he doesn’t have a fighting mentality, there’s no point in him being smart if he doesn’t have morals,” said HD.

Furthermore, HD handed over donations in the form of the Qur’an to the RTYD Foundation to support teaching and learning activities at the foundation.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the RTYD Foundation, Briliansyah Bahusin said that the foundation he leads has been established since 2015, “and we, apart from providing religious education, also concentrate on providing knowledge on food security, such as how to plant and build fish ponds, which we hope will produce skilled human resources. entrepreneurs in the field of food security,” he said.

In addition, he also hopes that the government can assist them in realizing the foundation’s desire to build dormitories and study rooms. (ojn/ril)
