HD: Develop Railroads, Facilitate Transportation Connectivity Towards Mining Areas

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru appreciated the synergy of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in this case PT Kereta Api Indonesia Limited (KAI), to make transportation connectivity to mining areas better and faster.

According to him, PT KAI’s initiation to develop new coal-fired rail transportation is in line with South Sumatra Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 74 of 2018.

“We talk about coal transportation as much as possible, we try not to disturb the community, so we focus on one of them except for special roads, namely trains,” he said after receiving a visit from the President Director of PT. Indonesian Railways (KAI) Didiek Hartantyo, in the Living Room of the Governor of South Sumatra (2/6) Thursday afternoon.

Herman Deru admits that the South Sumatra Provincial Government is trying not to disturb the public, therefore it chooses to focus on trains. Moreover, the existence of a railway line to the mining area is very important to facilitate the distribution of coal commodities, and to provide a sense of security to the people who live around the mining area.

Also present were DPR RI Commission 1 Effendi MS Simbolon, President Director of PT Primanaya Djan International Djan Faridz, Commercial Director of PT. KAI Hadis Surya Palapa, Head of Regional Division III Palembang PT KAI Junaidi Nasution. (ojn/ril)
