Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The agricultural sector is one of the main concerns in the South Sumatra Provincial Government. With diversity in 17 districts / cities in South Sumatra, the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru continues to strive so that the potential of farmers and agricultural productivity in South Sumatra continues to increase, of course with good standards and quality. For this reason, a sustainable and integrated agricultural development concept is needed.
This is the basis for the implementation of the Kick Off Food Estate “Farmers of the State Defense” Agrosolution by the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo accompanied by HD and the Regents involved in providing land for the Food Estate.
“With various problems in terms of agricultural productivity, soil conditions and quality, it causes the selling price and quality in each region to be different. With the concept of Food Estate which involves stakeholders related to and cares about agriculture in South Sumatra, it will be able to uniform the quality and price, “said HD.
HD also appreciates the 5 Regents including the Regents of OKI, East OKU, South OKU, Banyuasin, and Ogan Ilir who have provided land in their area for the implementation of this Food Estate.
Yasin Limpo in his speech praised HD for doing very big, strategic and fundamental things for the Indonesian nation.
“Governor Herman Deru can prove that South Sumatra is not an ordinary province but a buffer for the life of agriculture in Indonesia and is one of the other 6 Provinces whose production figures are fulfilled will be able to bear 273 million in 1 year” said Yasin.
Meanwhile, the Director of PT Pusri, Tri Wahyudi Saleh, supports every activity in South Sumatra including the food estate by supplying fertilizers to farmers to make South Sumatra become a national food barn.
Report of Plt. The Head of the Agriculture Office, R. Bambang Pramono, stated that for the success of the Food Estate as a Food Production Center, the role of the private sector is needed to be able to foster farmers through Farmer-Level Business Entities.
