Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru attended the inauguration of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) South Sumatra (Sumsel) for the 2022-2026 period with the theme “Speed, Focus, Sportsmanship Forward Together”.
HD appreciates the formation of IMI Sumsel and hopes that the existence of IMI Sumsel will encourage automotive progress in South Sumatra, as well as being a forum for automotive lovers in South Sumatra, both 2-wheeled and 4-wheeled, to channel their hobbies.
“The presence of IMI Sumsel can change the mindset that this automotive can be followed by all people who are important to have skills and also become a hobby,” he said.
In addition, HD said he welcomed various automotive events that were being prepared by IMI Sumsel in the future. According to him, with South Sumatra as the host in various events, will help economic recovery in South Sumatra. Therefore, he also supports IMI Sumsel’s desire to build an automotive circuit in Jakabaring.
“I advise that the chairman of IMI Sumsel can carry out their duties well. And continue to support the development of South Sumatra both as a forum for channeling talent to find outstanding human resources in South Sumatra and in advancing automotive in South Sumatra,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of IMI Sumsel, Alfian Maskoni, said that IMI Sumsel will support various automotive activities for sport tourism in South Sumatra. The main target after the formation of this management is to build an automotive circuit in Jakabaring. According to him, this is currently in preparation and will be presented in the near future before the Governor of HD, and if all aspects have been met next year the construction process will begin.
Chairman of the Central IMI, Bambang Soesatyo, S.E M.B.A hoped that if South Sumatra already had an international circuit, various automotive events on a national scale could be held in South Sumatra. (mhn/ril)
