Palembang, Berita Rakyat Sumatera – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD) attended the inauguration and inauguration of the South Sumatra Provincial Association of Gateball Association (PERGATSI) for the 2021-2025 Service Period held at the Graha Bina Praja Auditorium.
In his speech HD said That he really liked Gateball when he was first introduced, plus the enthusiasm of the community was also quite high.
“If you want this sport to develop quickly, the management is not just from the PU agency,” said HD.
In addition, he also suggested that the most effective way to be recognized more quickly was through schools starting at the high school level first which was implemented in every school in 17 districts / cities.
At the end of his speech, HD requested that PERGATSI Sumsel be able to hold a competition event to celebrate the anniversary of the Province of South Sumatra.
“In June, I asked for an inter-agency match to celebrate the birthday of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, packed with the South Sumatra Governor’s Cup,” said HD.
The inauguration activity was attended and inaugurated directly by the Daily Chairperson of PB PERGATSI, Dr. Ir. Khalawi Abdul Hamid, M.Sc, MM, IPU, in his remarks, he conveyed several things that PERGATSI South Sumatra must do immediately.
Among them is to be able to take advantage of the sports venues that are owned by holding national-level competitions, and preparing for two national-level events which will be held in June and July.
“I hope that South Sumatra can prepare itself to face this competition. Hopefully, South Sumatra can also give birth to Gateball athletes who can be proud of Indonesia, especially South Sumatra,” he said.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Chairman of the South Sumatra PERGATSI Provincial Board, Ir. Basyaruddin Akhmad, M.Sc hopes that the appointed officials and members of PERGATSI South Sumatra will be more enthusiastic about developing Gateball in the community which is carried out evenly in 17 districts/cities in South Sumatra.
