Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) was present as a Resource Person for the Virtual FGD of Domestic Sectoral In-depth (PSDN) Bank Indonesia Higher Leadership School (SESPIBI) 2021.
A total of 30 participants from the XXXVII School of Higher Leadership of Bank Indonesia (SESPIBI) participated in the FGD activity with the theme “Building Transformational Leadership towards a Leading Digital Central Bank that Synergizes for Sustainable and Inclusive Development”.
As a resource person, HD told the FGD participants that to be a leader one must be able to delegate tasks to subordinates but not give authority.
“Being a leader, sometimes it has to be arranged from the start. It’s like taking people’s trust, to get it, it requires a process, especially for leaders,” said HD.
He also said that the initial capital to become a leader is to be persistent (sincerely) in carrying out responsibilities.
“When we know what the community wants, then in leading we must carry it out diligently to achieve the goal, namely the welfare of the community,” said HD.
HD also advised SESPIBI participants to be able to become solutive leaders and not change their personal behavior when they were given a position.
“Just work sincerely, don’t be burdened with wanting to be recognized as the smartest person or other recognition. We as leaders, whatever the task, whatever the level, we have to be a motivator for the people we lead,” concluded HD. (ojn/ril)
