Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru opened the Reog Ponorogo and Kuda Lumping Festivals throughout South Sumatra in 2023, in his remarks he said he wanted traditional arts to continue to be introduced to society, especially the younger generation so that they could continue the artistic heritage and indigenous culture in Indonesia.
“The main indicator where our brothers and sisters from outside the province are comfortable in South Sumatra is the South Sumatra United Association (PNSB). Of course, showing diversity is a strength, shown by its economic actions as well. In South Sumatra, East Java residents dominate as many as 38% or more or less 4 million people” explained HD.
HD also hopes that South Sumatra will remain Zero Conflict.
“God willing, in the future there will still be no conflicts between tribes, between religions. This is the capital for development for our region, followed by all Regencies/Cities in South Sumatra and neighboring Provinces. To the Chairpersons of the associations to continue to maintain cohesiveness, equally maintaining originality , the authenticity of the ancestral heritage is maintained” message HD. .
For this reason, at the end of his speech, HD reminded that Cultural Customs are our assets. South Sumatra has a special regulation on the defense of local wisdom, such as songket, dance and others.
“Equally important, we also respect the culture of other regions, that we can mingle because we share the same frequency in culture,” concluded HD. (mhn/ril)
