Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The coordination meeting which was opened by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru had the theme “Government Internal Oversight Apparatus (APIP) and Law Enforcement Officers (APH) Synergy to Support the Agricultural Sector and Prevention of Land Conversion throughout South Sumatra.
HD said that South Sumatra is a very superior province on the island of Sumatra because it can support food nationally.
“The rankings that are always announced by the Ministry of Agriculture are of course to be a motivation for us here. How to prevent a conversion from occurring, from agricultural land to industrial/residential land. Because the main state resilience is food security” said HD
He added, this land conversion usually occurs in areas around cities/provincial capitals and district/city capitals.
“Alhamdulillah, I am the first district head to make a regional regulation prohibiting the conversion of functions. If we’ve talked about production, the most worrying threat is the conversion of functions. Of course, this must work in synergy with the agency that issued the permit, the city planning is synergized with the RTRW (regional spatial plan) with the area. So that it becomes a recommendation for the Ministry of Agriculture as well as for the Provincial and Regional Governments,” added HD.
To the Ministry of Agriculture, HD asks for support for the South Sumatra Independent Food Movement.
The Inspector General of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture Jan Samuel Maringka said that in 2022, the agricultural sector will contribute 12.40% of Indonesia’s GDP while the province of South Sumatra will contribute 13.23% of GRDP.
“South Sumatra’s rice production is the 5th largest in Indonesia after East Java, Central Java, West Java and South Sulawesi and South Sumatra is the largest in Sumatra. Meanwhile, Banyuasin Regency is the 4th largest district for rice production in Indonesia. Apart from that, South Sumatra is also the largest Robustan Coffee and Rubber Center. in Indonesia while CPO production is the 6th largest,” explained Jan.
Jan also advised to focus on strategic programs, priorities and super priorities. Building APIP and APH Synergy to achieve food security. (mhn/ril)
