HD Receives South Sumatra KPAD Audience

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The South Sumatra Regional Child Protection Commission (KPAD), which was appointed and confirmed on August 15 2023, today (4/9) had an audience with the Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD).

On this occasion, the Chairman of the South Sumatra KPAD, DR. Dwi Noviani introduced the Commissioner Members of the South Sumatra KPAD, also said that currently the South Sumatran KPAD would soon form a Regency/City level KPAD in South Sumatra.

In this regard, he asked for support from the Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru in implementing it, “We also ask for the Governor’s support for us to coordinate with the districts/cities for the formation of KPAD,” he said to HD.

He also added that the South Sumatra KPAD will soon form Anti-Child Violence Volunteers (RAKA) which will support the KPAD program in protecting children in South Sumatra.

Responding to what had been conveyed, HD said that he would certainly support and provide the necessary facilities, such as operational cars so that the South Sumatra KPAD in coordinating with the Regency/City Government would use these vehicles.

On that occasion, HD also asked the South Sumatra KPAD to move more aggressively in absorbing information from the community and not just wait for reports to come in.

“KPAD is bridging. Not an investigator, not even a judge, how to bring a problem closer to a conclusion and not form an opinion but finalize an opinion. I hope that KPAD South Sumatra can act, act and absorb information beforehand, it must be more aggressive than NGOs which independently form yourself,” HD said.

HD also requested that the South Sumatra KPAD take preventive measures to reduce reports or cases related to children. (mhn/ril)
