EMPAT LAWANG, The Indonesia Post – As many as 11 family heads of fire victims who live in Talang Air Selepah, Tanjung Raman village, Pendopo subdistrict, Empat Lawang district, received love ties from the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru, Saturday (26/9).
The governor’s arrival on the sidelines of his working visit to Empat Lawang this time provided a new glimmer of hope for the residents whose 9 houses burned down in August 2020.
In fact, in this place, apart from providing basic necessities, kitchen utensils and medicines, wheelchair assistance was also given to local residents with disabilities.
In his direction, Governor Herman Deru, amidst the residents of the fire victims, asked them to be steadfast with all forms of trials that Allah SWT has bestowed.
“I am proud that the people here still have enthusiasm, make this ordeal an introspection and at the same time achieve a better leap of success,” said Governor H. Herman Deru to start his speech.
Herman Deru said that his presence together with the entourage at Air Selepah, Tanjung Raman village was a form of government attention to the fate of its citizens who were stricken by disaster.
“Do not look at the size of the aid given, but how much the government cares about it to encourage it. The lessons learned for us are even better,” he added.
At this place Herman Deru also promised to try to encourage the progress of the area of Empat Lawang Regency. Among them is by opening a connecting road access between Pendopo Empat Lawang and Kaur Bengkulu Regency. Besides, he ordered the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of Prov. South Sumatra will immediately make efforts to ensure that the Air Selepah area of Tanjung Raman village, which is currently not yet supplied with electricity, will immediately install a network to the medium voltage substation owned by PT PLN or if it is not possible to utilize Solar Power (PLTS).
“I ordered the agency in charge of immediately looking for a solution. So that the people here can be more prosperous,” he added.
He also said that currently there had been an increase in the price of agricultural commodities in South Sumatra which had to be welcomed by farmers by increasing the quality of agricultural production.
“Currently, all agricultural commodities in Empat Lawang have improved prices. This is the impact of non-production from outside countries which are currently still imposing restrictions due to the Covid pandemic. Our area can still do activities even with limitations because we have to comply with health protocols,” he said. (nfl/ril)
