Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru assessed that the existence of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) until when it was still active was inseparable from the role of kiai, religious scholars and other Nu administrators including women who are members of Muslimat NU.
“NU’s long journey certainly cannot be separated from the role of the Kiai and ulama, as well as the management, but the joy is also inseparable from NU Muslim women,” said Governor Herman Deru at the opening of the South Sumatra Walayah Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Ta’lim Council activities. at the PWNU Hall of South Sumatra, Friday (11/9).
The current NU management, HD hopes that this cohesiveness and istiqomah will be maintained so that NU can be raised through its deeds and work program.
“As a governor I feel very proud of NU. Moreover, this Islamic organization program is synonymous with community development,” he said.
According to him, the establishment of NU Muslimat ta’lim assemblies in the community is currently quite common which are united in an organization, namely the PWNU Muslimat ta’lim assembly.
“We hope that these mothers as the first teachers for their children, good, bad, moral, the most important thing is the role of the mother itself,” he explained.
At the same place, the Governor Herman Deru also inaugurated the Secretariat of the Alumni Association of the Indonesian Student Movement (IKA PMII) of South Sumatra and the IKA PMII of Palembang City as well as the opening of the PMII Sumsel Branch Coordinator Committee (PKC) of South Sumatra PMII.
