Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman had the opportunity to give a Public Lecture to Students of the Open University (UT) Government Science Study Program at the Ar-Rahman Islamic Boarding School, Palembang, Jalan Tegal Binangun, Plaju District, Tuesday (6/10).
The public lecture this time carried the theme of youth empowerment through innovative, creative and outstanding work in supporting the South Sumatra Provincial Government program.
On this occasion Herman Deru reminded the students the importance of being serious or serious in doing something.
“In this public lecture, I give students the benefits of studying, in general we need to be self-reliant (faith or sincerity) so doing something that is not too much is useless,” said HD.
HD continued, he said that apart from the knowledge gained in the learning process, there were also things that he reminded, including intellectuality, seriousness, maintained image, consistency, consequence, speed, including courage.
“In doing something you also have to have courage, without courage it is useless. What you get after graduating from a bachelor’s degree / education level is accountability, including later to the community. I hope you have to become important and useful people for society later,” HD concluded.
Meanwhile, the coach of Ponpes Ar-Rahman H.M Sukarman Dewhana expressed his gratitude for the presence of Governor Herman Deru as well as giving a public lecture at this Ponpes.
“Today we are truly extraordinary that the University rarely gets public lectures directly by the Governor of Herman Deru. Hopefully the presence of the Governor in our midst will bring blessings to the Ar-Rahman Islamic Boarding School,” he said.
He continued that the Ar-Rahman Islamic Boarding School had several activities including kindergarten, aliyah, drug rehabilitation, orphanages, dhikr assemblies and universities.
“My hope is that next year we will open postgraduate degrees,” he said.
On this occasion, the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, inaugurated the Ar-Rahman Islamic Boarding School Teachers’ Residence and the Groundbreaking for the continuation of the building construction as well as the Inauguration of the IT-based Tahfidzul Quran Program at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ponpes Ar-Rahman.
