Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Food of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Zulkifli Hasan, in a review of the Merah Putih Sukodadi Urban Village Cooperative, Sukarami District, Palembang City, on Monday (6/16/2025). This visit is part of the central government’s efforts to ensure that the village/urban village cooperative program runs effectively throughout Indonesia.
During the review, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Zulkifli Hasan gave high appreciation to Governor Herman Deru for his speed and alertness in following up on government programs.
“The Governor of South Sumatra is always quick in following up on programs. The main thing about urban/urban village cooperatives is their business. We ask for an easy way, low interest so that this cooperative can make a profit, be used as an agent, wholesaler. Then this cooperative already has a permit, so don’t ask for other permits again,” said Zulkifli Hasan.
He added that there is a loan ceiling of IDR 3 billion according to the needs managed by the cooperative. The Coordinating Minister explained that the Red and White Cooperative does not use the APBD or APBN, but is purely a business and effort that is run properly.
“There is mushroom development, there is catfish, there is chicken farming, all of them are welcome. Every sub-district, every village has an economic center that breaks the very long chain. This is the desire of our President, so every village/sub-district does not buy goods at too high a price,” he explained.
Zulkifli Hasan explained that this cooperative is a supporter of people’s businesses that are needed every day. Various basic necessities such as rice, flour, fertilizer, as well as services such as Brilink, pharmacies, and Pustu (Assistant Health Centers) are available, so that people do not need to go far to the city to buy medicine or other needs.
