Plenary Session (83) South Sumatra Legislative Council Submitting the Governor’s Explanation on 6 South Sumatra Regional Regulation Drafts

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairperson of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), Dr Hj RA. Anita Noeringhati, chaired the Plenary Meeting at LXXXIII (83) of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD with the agenda of explaining the South Sumatra Governor’s explanation of 6 draft regional regulations (Raperda) for South Sumatra.

Taking place in the South Sumatra Province DPRD Plenary Meeting Room, Jalan Captain Arivai Palembang, Monday (22/4/2024).

The plenary session took place with the submission of reports on the results of the special committee’s research on the 6 regional regulations of South Sumatra Province. The 6 regional regulations being discussed, the first is the regional spatial planning plan for South Sumatra Province for 2023-2043. Currently, the draft has received the minutes of the joint agreement between the Governor and the Chairman of the DPRD on December 7 2023 and is entering the stages towards a cross-sectoral process at the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

Furthermore, the draft regional regulation regarding the implementation of environmental protection and management has been discussed by special committee I and is currently at the special committee report stage. The third draft regional regulation is the second amendment to Regional Regulation Number 14 of 2016 concerning the formation and composition of regional apparatus in the Province of South Sumatra.

Fourth, the draft regional regulation on the long-term regional development plan for South Sumatra Province. The fifth draft regional regulation changes the legal form of PT Bank Perkreditan Rakyat Sumsel to PT Bank Per Ekonomian Rakyat Sumsel (Perseroda). Sixth, the draft regional regulation regarding PT Regional Development Bank of South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung (Perseroda).

In accordance with the provisions of article 21 paragraph (3) letter a, number 1 of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD regulation Number 94/2021 concerning amendments to the South Sumatra DPRD regulation Number 22/2020 concerning the procedures of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, the 6 draft regional regulations proposed by the South Sumatra Provincial Government will be presented at the LXXXIII Plenary Meeting (83) South Sumatra DPRD.

The Governor of South Sumatra, Agus Fatoni, explained that this draft regional regulation was proposed in connection with changes to several regulations in the environmental sector as a result of Law Number 6/2023 concerning the enactment of Government regulations to replace Law Number 2/2022 concerning Job Creation into law.

With the aim of realizing the basis of a sustainable development plan and achieving sustainability of the relationship between humans and the environment as the goal of holistic human development, as well as the realization of humans as environmental builders. Apart from that, the implementation of environmental protection and management.

Among other things, the realization of humans as environmental people who have an attitude of protecting and fostering the environment. Second, ensuring the interests of present and future generations. Third, achieving the preservation of environmental functions and controlling the wise use of resources.

And the environment is protected against the impact of businesses/activities that cause environmental pollution/damage. “Furthermore, to be able to provide a legal basis and certainty to the community in carrying out environmental protection and management, it is appropriate for all levels of government to regulate these matters into statutory regulations,” he stressed.

Therefore, the South Sumatra Provincial Government, through the Environment and Land Service, has prepared a draft regional regulation regarding the implementation of environmental protection and management. (ojn/ril)
