South Sumatra Acting Governor Ensures Distribution of Regional Elections Logistics Runs Smoothly

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi attended the Regional Consolidation Meeting of the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) throughout South Sumatra (Sumsel), regarding the preparation of Logistics Distribution for the 2024 South Sumatra Governor and Deputy Governor Election. Elen emphasized that the provincial government, district/city governments continue to be committed to maintaining regional conduciveness and fully supporting the ongoing implementation of the simultaneous regional elections on November 27.

Elen appealed to the entire community of South Sumatra Province to prevent unwanted vulnerabilities, prevent the spread of hoaxes that are known to be able to endanger the implementation of the regional elections, and all other things that can hinder the implementation of the regional elections.

“Therefore, all of you can coordinate with the leadership, coordinate with local security forces, especially the Regent/Mayor, regional KPU, regional Bawaslu, or other agencies that are considered able to help in carrying out prevention. We emphasize our commitment that the province also has a monitoring team and we will be able to increase this to monitoring to prevent unwanted things from happening,” he said.

Elen revealed several main focuses that are her duties as a regional leader, such as Strengthening Inter-Institutional Coordination, Infrastructure and Logistics Readiness, security and security stability, and maintaining the neutrality and professionalism of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

“Synergy between the provincial government and the district/city government, election organizers, security forces, and other related institutions is a strong foundation in facing various challenges,” he said.

According to Elen, the availability of voting facilities and infrastructure, distribution of election logistics, to the readiness of information technology that will be used in the vote counting process, must be prepared carefully so that there are no technical obstacles that can hinder the course of the Pilkada.

“Our PPK has 1,205 people, they are the backbone of our implementation in the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, God willing, this has gone well, logistics, God willing, this week has been running, the most important thing we anticipate and are aware of is vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, the technical implementation, God willing, is safe and running well. Support from the TNI, POLRI, BINDA, the courts are also fully prepared so that the implementation will run smoothly,” he explained.

Several roles of the South Sumatra Provincial Government to support the implementation of the simultaneous regional elections to run smoothly, Elen said, the South Sumatra Provincial Government has carried out the Declaration of ASN Neutrality, Political Education for SMA/SMK/MA Students, Formation of a Monitoring Team, Signing of the Regional Grant Agreement Manuscript, and Provision of Grant Funds.

“The implementation of the ASN Neutrality Declaration on December 27, 2023 in Palembang as the first Declaration carried out simultaneously which was attended directly and online by 180,751 ASN employees consisting of ASN of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, ASN of the Regency/City Government throughout South Sumatra, and ASN Vertical throughout South Sumatra,” he added

“The South Sumatra Provincial Government carried out the signing of the Regional Agreement Grant Manuscript (NPHD) with the General Election Commission (KPU) and the General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sumatra Province by carrying out the fastest and first simultaneous in Indonesia with the Regency/City Government and the KPU and Bawaslu of Regency/City throughout South Sumatra on November 9, 2023 in Palembang,” he said.
