South Sumatra Legislative Council Chairperson Attends Coordination Meeting on Illegal Drilling and Refinery

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) Dr Hj RA Anita NoeringHati SH MH Attended the Coordination Meeting on Illegal Drilling and Refinery Handling which was chaired directly by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Agus Fatoni in Efforts to Resolve the Problem of Illegal Drilling and Illegal Refinery Activities in Musi Banyuasin Regency. This activity was held in the South Sumatra Provincial Government Development Meeting Room, Palembang, South Sumatra, Tuesday (11/6/2024).

The coordination meeting involved the Provincial Forkopimda, Acting Regent of Musi Banyuasin, SKK Migas and Pertamina to discuss illegal oil mining and refining in South Sumatra, especially Musi Banyuasin Regency. Therefore, he invited the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and related stakeholders to have an audience with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the near future.

“We are looking for the best solution. “So as a result of today’s meeting we have agreed that we will hold an audience with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the near future,” said Fatoni.

Fatoni said that through the audience with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, it is hoped that they can find a solution regarding the problem of illegal drilling and refinery activities in Musi Banyuasin Regency. The reason is, this problem cannot be resolved at the Regency or Provincial level because it is closely related to regulations in the Central Government.

Meanwhile, the implementation of tasks in handling these problems will be adjusted to the functions of each agency. Of course, if it is the authority of the Central Government then it will be carried out by the Central Government and if it is the authority of the Regional Government then it will be carried out by the Regional Government.

“In this area there is a regional government and we will carry out the police according to their respective authorities. “No one takes over, they have to act in accordance with existing provisions according to their respective duties and authorities,” explained Fatoni.

On the same occasion, Acting Regent of Muba Sandi Fahlepi hopes that in the future there will be regulations and rules regarding the issue of Illegal Drilling and Illegal Refinery in Muba. Whether it is through the revision of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 1 of 2008 or other forms of regulations that can be used as a basis or can legalize mining of community oil wells.

This is very important to realize the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in the Limited Meeting on Friday (12/4) 2022 regarding implementing oil well management that is safe for the community, environmental safety, improving the community’s economy and increasing regional and state income.
