Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Lingkar Hijau Group in collaboration with the Paradigma Foundation (Riau) took the initiative to build a “Regional Contribution Facility in Achieving FOLU Net Sink in Three Provinces on the Island of Sumatra, namely Riau, South Sumatra and Jambi”. In connection with this, a discussion was held between the Parties with the theme “WKR (People’s Management Area) and Progress of the Implementation of the South Sumatra FOLU Net Sink Policy” at Tembesh Space and Resto Jalan MP Mangkunegara Bukit Sangkal Kalidoni, Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Present were the Chairman of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) Andie Dinialdie, SE, MM, Director of the Lingkar Hijau Association Anwar Sadat and several speakers from the South Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service, WALHI South Sumatra, Berbak Sembilang National Park, BKSDA and participants from various agencies and institutions.
Speakers from the South Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service discussed the material with the theme “Progress of the Implementation of the South Sumatra FOLU Net Sink”, then speakers from WALHI South Sumatra raised the theme “WKR as a Solution to Achieving the 20230 FOLU Net Sink”, speakers from Berbak Sembilang National Park raised the theme “Existing Conditions of Sembilang National Park and Efforts in Implementing the South Sumatra FOLU Net Sink” and speakers from BKSDA discussed the material with the theme “Existing Conditions of SM Dangku and Efforts in Implementing the South Sumatra FOLU Net Sink”.
The Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD Andie Dinialdie, SE, MM said that his party greatly appreciated the committee of this event who had taken the initiative to build Regional Contribution Facilitation in Achieving the FOLU Net Sink in 3 (three) Provinces on the Island of Sumatra, namely South Sumatra, Riau and Jambi, with the aim of expanding understanding of the concept, agenda, and informative implementation of the progress of the FOLU Net Sink in South Sumatra , and the establishment of stakeholder collaboration to achieve Indonesia FOLU Net Sink 2030 in South Sumatra, considering that South Sumatra is one of 12 provinces appointed to compile part of the National Work Plan Document to achieve the FOLU Net Sink 2030 target.
“This activity is very aspirational and innovative in the midst of climate change due to the increase in the earth’s temperature which is currently at a level that can no longer be taken lightly due to the process of increasing the average temperature of the atmosphere, sea, and land,” he said.
“We, the Legislature, are ready to support this activity with our Legislative, Budgetary, and Supervisory functions, if necessary, the Implementation Regulations for this program. Together with the Regional Government, we are ready to compile regulations related to this program,” added Andie Dinialdie.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Lingkar Hijau Association, Anwar Sadat, said that the purpose of this activity was to expand the understanding of the concept of the agenda and informative FOLU Net Sink program in South Sumatra as has been prepared in the work plan, to build stakeholder collaboration to achieve Indonesia FOLU Net Sink 2030 in South Sumatra, to provide information on the achievement of community-managed areas and social forestry in supporting FOLU Net Sink in South Sumatra and to provide information on existing conditions and efforts to restore the Sembilang Dangku landscape in supporting the achievement of FOLU Net Sink implementation in South Sumatra.
“This is related to how we continue to socialize the FOLU Net Sink issue, in a series of climate change in the context of mitigation. We want in addition to increasing support, there are also institutional ties, for example, a Working Group on how the implementation of FOLU Net Sink in South Sumatra can be maximized with a Working Group or forum,” he said.
Anwar Sadat further said that the parties considered this important. Alhamdulillah, the Chairman of the South Sumatra DPRD was present in person and appreciated today’s activities and he directed that there could be effective recommendations, there could be institutional recommendations related to regulatory aspects in relation to policies at the regional level related to the issue of climate change.
“Including support related to the authority of the DPRD other than legislation, perhaps related to funding in terms of climate change mitigation, of course it is strategic,” he concluded. (ojn/bbs)
