Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) Andi Dinialdie, SE, MM accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the DPRD H. Nopianto, S.Sos, MM, and Deputy Chairman H.M. Ilias Panji Alam, SE, SH. MM, MH and DPRD Members Nadia Basir, SE, H. Sri Sutandi, SE, MBA and M. Al Amin, S.SI carried out a Working Visit in the context of Consultation on the Role of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD in the Ratification of the Appointment of the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra Province in the 2024 Simultaneous General Election.
The Working Visit was received directly by Mr. Raden Hendi Nur Kusuma as Head of Sub-Directorate for Region I of the Directorate of Regional Head and DPRD Facilities at the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy (OTDA) of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
In his explanation that after the letter from the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD is received, a letter will be processed to be made addressed to the President for the issuance of a Presidential Decree regarding the approval and ratification and Appointment of the Elected Governor and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, considering that according to the provisions that the Minister of Home Affairs must forward the proposal for ratification of the elected governor and deputy governor candidates to the President no later than 3 (three) days after receiving the proposal from the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD. Furthermore, as stipulated in Article 160 paragraph (2) of Law No. 8 of 2015 concerning Amendments to Law Number 1 of 2015 concerning the Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Law, that the President ratifies the elected governor by Presidential Decree no later than 20 (twenty) days after receiving the complete proposal from the Provincial DPRD. Later, if the Presidential Decree has been issued, the Governor and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra Province will be inaugurated by the President at the State Palace in Jakarta, also attended by the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial People’s Representative Council.

Regarding the discourse on postponing the Inauguration of Regional Heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, the Head of Sub-Directorate for Region 1 of the Directorate of Regional Head Facilities and DPRD of the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the inauguration of the elected governor and deputy governor may change. This is because there are parties in dispute at the Constitutional Court, that until now there are still around 200 Pilkada disputes. Later, the conditions will be seen first and it will be decided whether the inauguration of the Elected Regional Heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections will be carried out according to the schedule as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 80 of 2024 or will be postponed. If the Inauguration cannot be carried out according to schedule, then Presidential Regulation No. 80 of 2024 will be revised and the inauguration schedule will be postponed. If there is a postponement, it is predicted that the Inauguration of Regional Heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections will be held on the 2nd week of April 2025, or around April 14-17, 2025. However, until now the discourse on postponing the inauguration is still unclear and has not been decided, so for now the Inauguration Schedule for Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads from the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections remains as scheduled as previously stipulated in Article 22A of Presidential Regulation No. 80 of 2024, namely February 7, 2025 for the Inauguration of the Governor-Deputy Governor and February 10, 2025 for the inauguration of the Regent-Deputy Regent, and Mayor-Deputy Mayor, meaning that until now there has been no change in the schedule for the Inauguration of Regional Heads from the 2024 National Simultaneous Regional Elections. However, our hope is the same as the hope of the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, that the Pilkada participants who are elected and do not have disputes can be inaugurated first, do not wait for the stages of the Election Results dispute hearing at the Constitutional Court to be completed, let alone wait for the completion if there is a Revote, so that regional development performance is not disrupted and continues to run smoothly.
