South Sumatra Legislative Council Listens to Teachers’ Aspirations in South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) South Sumatra II Electoral District Palembang City Listens to Teachers’ Aspirations in South Sumatra

Present at the recess were Muhammad Yansuri SIP (Golkar Party), Ir H Zulfikri Kadir (PDI Perjuangan), Antoni Yuzar SH MH (PKB), H M Anwar Al Syadat SSi MSi (PKS), Dr H Budiarto Marsul SE MSi (Gerindra Party), Private Tanjung (Democratic Party) and H Nopianto SSos MM (Nasdem Party).

Budiarto Marsul said that today the members of the DPRD for the Province of South Sumatra in the South Sumatra II constituency are pleased to meet with officials from the Education Office of the Province of South Sumatra and the Heads of high school (SMA) and Vocational Schools in Palembang.

“We have received a lot of input. Among them are the problems of honorary teachers, facilities and infrastructure that need the government’s attention,” he said.

Budiarto said that there were also requests from private universities to the provincial government to pay attention to them. This is an input for the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

“From year to year we increase the budget for the education sector. Because we toured high schools in South Sumatra, it turned out that many still needed additional classrooms. Because the capacity of the number of junior high school graduates and the number of available senior high schools is still very less,” he explained.

Budiarto further gave an example, there are a lot of SMP Negeri 7 and SMA Negeri 14 in the area. However, there is only one high school in the area. This means that many students are not accommodated. “In addition, laboratory problems also need to be improved,” he said.

Regarding honorary teachers, Budiarto said that his welfare must be improved. In addition, there are also many public schools with a small number of civil servants.

“We will fight for the welfare of honorary teachers and teacher shortages. We get a lot of input here from the National Education Office and the Headmaster,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Vocational School Mondia Boni, SE, S.Kom said, the South Sumatra Provincial Education Office was grateful for the recess from members of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD in the South Sumatra II constituency to several schools in Palembang. So that the school can convey any complaints. “So that later there will be a solution from the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD,” he said.

Furthermore, Mondia Boni said, there are several schools that want additional new classrooms, there are requests for rehabilitation and school equipment.

“Hopefully, the South Sumatra Provincial Education Office will develop evenly. Then the budget that we propose from the South Sumatra Provincial Education Office can be assisted by the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD to be realized,” he said (ojn/bbs/ril)
