Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The opening of the Karate Open Tournament & Festival Cup of the Chairman of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) Andie Dinialdie, SE, MM was held at Jakabaring Sport City, Wednesday (26/2/2025).
The activity took place on 25-27 February 2025 and was attended by thousands of karate athletes.

The Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Andie Dinialdie, S.E., M.M represented by Deputy Chairman II of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD H. Nopianto, SH, M.Si directly opened the Karate Open Tournament Championship and the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Chairman Cup Festival.
Also present were Assistant I for Government and Public Welfare Dr. H. Sunarto, S.Sos., M.Si along with the Secretary of the South Sumatra Provincial Youth and Sports Office H. A Yudi Saputra, S.T., M.T.
Deputy Chairman II of the South Sumatra DPRD H Nopianto said that his party welcomed the initiative of Forki South Sumatra to hold the Karate Open Tournament Championship and the South Sumatra DPRD Chairman Cup Festival Andie Dinialdie.
“I think events like this should be improved for the following year. I hope this event can be the main program of Forki South Sumatra in the framework of developing young athletes and can also be a place or place to find superior seeds that excel, which we hope can make the name of South Sumatra and Indonesia proud in the international arena,” he said.
Nopianto further added, with championships and tournaments like this, talented children will be born. Moreover, this is followed by junior athletes, not seniors or professionals.
This is a coaching effort carried out by Forki South Sumatra and in collaboration with the South Sumatra DPRD.
“We provide support with Forki. We hope this will be sustainable. We hope that FORKI South Sumatra and FORKI districts/cities in South Sumatra so that this activity can be held simultaneously, continuously, both at the provincial and district/city levels because this can be part of fostering achievement,” he said.
“In the future, we also hope that South Sumatra can host national events. For this activity, we welcome it, and we are ready to provide support in the framework of fostering these young athletes,” he said.
In the same place, Assistant I of the South Sumatra Provincial Government Dr. Drs. H. Sunarto, S.Sos., M.Si expressed his appreciation to FORKI South Sumatra and the South Sumatra DPRD Chairman’s Cup Committee Andie who have supported the development of athlete achievements.
This activity aims to find seeds in South Sumatra to compete in the national and international arenas.
“It is hoped that the students can practice to make South Sumatra proud,” he said.
He further hopes that the referees can carry out their duties professionally. So that they can make the best judgments.
“Leave aside sectoral egos, that’s our region. Earlier there was a referee’s promise. So that by carrying out their duties professionally, we will get athletes with achievements to be able to compete nationally,” he said.
“Hopefully in the future it can be held again with more participants,” he explained.
Secretary General of FORKI South Sumatra Yanuarsyah said that Forki South Sumatra welcomed the implementation of this activity, and expressed his gratitude to the South Sumatra DPRD.
“Hopefully with this early start, we ask for help from the provincial government and the South Sumatra DPRD. So that we can reach the national level,” he said.
“For our own target at this time for the national championship later, we have conducted a training center (TC) including during the fasting month, one of which was in the Nasdem hall,” he added.
When asked about the number of participants in the Karate Open Tournament & Festival Cup of the South Sumatra DPRD Chairman Andie Dinialdie, he said that around 1,000 athletes participated in this activity. Followed by Dojo athletes from 17 regencies and cities.
“In the future, we hope that the preparation will be more mature, we can implement it at PSCC with even more participants,” he concluded. (ojn/bbs)
