Governor Herman Deru Offers Condolences 40 Days After H. Halim’s Passing, Calls for Emulating the Goodness of the Deceased

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Cik Ujang attended the 40-day condolences for the death of the late Community Figure Kemas H. Abdul Halim Ali bin Kemas Ali as well as the funeral service for the late Nyimas Hj. Aminah binti Kemas Nang Utih at the Al-Halim Dakwah Graha, Sunday (15/3/2026).

The solemn event began with congregational Isha prayers, followed by Tarawih and Witr prayers. Opening his remarks, Herman Deru, representing the family, expressed his gratitude to the religious scholars and community members who attended to pray for the deceased. He noted that the late Kemas H. Abdul Halim was known as a generous figure with a deep sense of community.

“May the deceased be accepted by Allah SWT and all his good deeds become ongoing charity,” said Herman Deru.

He also hoped that the joint prayer would be an effort to ensure that the deceased and the deceased receive mercy, forgiveness, and the best place with Allah SWT, while also strengthening the families left behind to remain steadfast and continue the good values ​​that have been passed down.

In his sermon, Habib Rizieq Shihab said that the deceased was known as a generous person and had a close relationship with the habaib, so he was very much loved.

Meanwhile, Ustadz Abdul Somad in his sermon said that one way to see a person’s goodness is from how society remembers him after he dies.

“If you want to see a good person, look at them after they die. We apply this principle to the late H. Abdul Halim,” said Ustadz Abdul Somad.

According to him, the large number of people who attended the joint prayer event was a sign of love and respect for the deceased.

Also in attendance were the South Sumatra Provincial Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and heads of regional government organizations (OPDs) of the South Sumatra Provincial Government. (mhn/ril)
