The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 asked local governments to re-strengthen education to the public in their respective regions regarding the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination in response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.
“The local government should again strengthen education about COVID-19 vaccination in order to accelerate the increase in coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in the regions,” said the Coordinator of the Expert Team and Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito.
Wiku said, with intensive communication, education, and information regarding the importance of vaccination for the community, it is hoped that awareness to vaccinate will continue to increase.
The local government, said Wiku, also needs to identify the obstacles faced by the region in increasing the coverage of the second and third doses of vaccination (booster) and report these obstacles to the central government.
“Especially the coverage of the second and third doses of vaccination which still needs to be increased,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
