Pekanbaru, The Indonesia Post – The Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov) proposed the construction of the Dumai-Baganbatu-Sigambal Toll Road (JTTS) section starting in 2023 following a public trial of changes to the presidential regulation (perpres) toll roads.
“In the amendment to the presidential regulation, all toll roads in Riau have been entered, of which the Pekanbaru-Pangkalan toll road is in phase one, the same as Pekanbaru-Dumai. Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru-Rengat and Rengat-Jambi toll roads are in phase two,” said Assistant II of the Setdaprov. Riau, Job Kurniawan in his statement in Pekanbaru, Riau, Sunday.
He said that in the amendment to the presidential regulation on toll roads, the construction of the Dumai-Baganbatu-Sigambal (North Sumatra) toll road is in phase three or starting in 2024.
However, Job said, his party asked the government to enter the toll road construction in phase two or start in 2023.
“We are also negotiating with the North Sumatra Provincial Government and we agree to encourage the construction of the Dumai-Baganbatu-Sigambal Toll Road to enter the second phase,” he said.
By entering the second phase of construction, Job continued, it is hoped that in 2023 the location determination (penlok) of the toll road section can be carried out, including the release of land that is included in the forest area.
“If we can enter phase two, then the Dumai-Baganbatu-Sigambal Toll Road can be done from the start, whether it’s a penlok, land compensation process, so that construction work can be accelerated,” he said.
According to him, the existence of toll roads is needed to grow new industrial centers and areas on the JTTS route, reduce logistics costs, be able to absorb labor, and connect economic centers in Sumatra.
JTTS whose construction began in 2015 is planned to be built along 2,812 km with an investment value of Rp. 538 trillion. (mhn/bbs)
