President inaugurated the Cisumdawu Highway from the mouth of the longest toll tunnel

Sumedang, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road from the mouth of the longest twin tunnels used for toll roads, to be precise at section KM 169, Rancakalong Village, Sumedang Regency, West Java, Tuesday.

“We are in twin tunnels which are 472 meters long. In all of Indonesia there are no toll roads that pass through twin tunnels like this,” Jokowi said while delivering remarks during the inauguration procession.

Apart from having an identical length of 472 km, the twin tunnels were also built with a diameter of 14 meters which connected the City of Bandung via the Cipularang Toll Road to the Cipali Toll Road.

The President is grateful that the Cisumdawu Toll Road, whose construction process has started since 2011, has finally been fully completed along 61.6 km.

“That is, it has been 12 years. There are indeed many problems in the field, especially the problem of land acquisition/land acquisition,” said the President.

According to the President, the Cisumdawu Toll Road has consumed a total budget of IDR 18.3 trillion, of which IDR 9.07 trillion comes from the government budget while the rest is financed through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

The President emphasized again that the presence of the Cisumdawu Toll Road would facilitate connectivity to the Kertajati West Java International Airport (BIJB) in Majalengka.

“In the past, we did this together so that the (Cisumdawu) toll road was completed, Kertajati Airport was also completed, simultaneously, but once again due to land acquisition, Kertajati Airport has been completed, Cisumdawu Toll Road has not been completed, so this disrupts airport operations,” he said.

The President also believes that with the support of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, BIJB Kertajati will become our future airport. Moreover, many investors from foreign countries are interested in investing in the management of BIJB Kertajati.

“If I see other countries arriving in droves, it means that there is something at Kertajati and we hope this will become a big airport in the future,” said Jokowi.

The Cisumdawu Toll Road is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in West Java and is the main access to BIJB Kertajati, which also has PSN status.

Apart from the Cisumdawu Toll Road and Kertajati BIJB, other PSN projects in West Java are the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB), the construction of seven dams, the development of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) campus in Cirebon, and the construction of the Patimban Port. (mhn/bbs)
