Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The General Election Commission (KPU) of South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) has officially submitted a budget for the upcoming 2024 Governor Election (Pilgub) amounting to Rp 359 billion.
This was revealed when the South Sumatra KPU held a coordination meeting with Commission I of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD), Monday (1/8).
“So today, we were summoned by a commission from the South Sumatra DPRD, in order to discuss the budget for the Governor Election that we proposed,” said South Sumatra KPU chairman Amrah Muslimin when met at the South Sumatra DPRD.
At the initial stage of the 2022 South Sumatra APBD budget, the allocation approved by Commission I of the South Sumatra DPRD was Rp. 30 billion, which was intended for socialization.
“In principle, the proposed 2023 socialization budget is worth Rp. 30 billion, of the total budget of Rp. 359 billion, it was approved,” said Amrah Muslimin.
Amrah explained, if later the discussion of the budget for the 2024 South Sumatra Governor Election will be discussed together again to be allocated in the South Sumatra Regional Budget.
“So for the 2023 fiscal year, we propose to the South Sumatra provincial government and the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, a budget allocation from the Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget (APBD) of IDR 30 billion. The rest will be budgeted in the 2024 APBD,” he explained.
He also explained that the Rp 30 billion budget itself was used for socialization and then for honorariums, health checks for candidates for election organizers, namely PPK and PPS candidates.
“Well, for the 2024 budget in the 2023 fiscal year, the allocation of the remaining budget of Rp 30 billion will be discussed again,” he explained.
Amrah also hopes that from the figure of Rp. 359 billion, the Provincial KPU, in this case the South Sumatra Provincial Budget, has shared or assisted the Regency/City KPU, amounting to Rp. 224 billion.
Where Rp 224 billion was used to pay the PPK honoraria, PPK secretariat honoraria, PPS honoraria and PPS secretariat honoraria.
“So if it is realized, it will reduce the budget needed by the Regency/City KPU,” he said.
The chairman of Commission I of the South Sumatra DPRD, Antoni Yuzar, stated that he strongly supports what the South Sumatra Provincial KPU is doing.
“It’s true that the 2023 budget allocation will be in the form of socialization worth IDR 30 billion, we support it. We will even submit it as soon as possible to the South Sumatra provincial government, in this case the governor,” he said.
Antoni also added that the next allocation, which is worth Rp. 329 billion, will of course be discussed in the 2023 budget later.
“For the Rp 30 billion socialization budget, of course we applaud and support it. Given the course of socialization, it must be scheduled. As for the next budget or the remaining budget of Rp 329 billion, we have to sit down at one table first. In addition to the KPU, the South Sumatra provincial government as well as the DPRD will sit down at one table to discuss the remaining budget in the context of the upcoming 2024 elections,” he said.
