Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel), H. Herman Deru, directly monitored the progress of the readiness of the grasstrack arena at Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) Palembang on Friday (20/06/2025). This review was carried out in order to ensure the readiness of the arena that will host the Grasstrack National Championship (Kejurnas) in August.
Governor Herman Deru explained that this arena will be a place for South Sumatran youth to channel their talents properly, so that they no longer do illegal racing on the streets.
“We are reviewing the Kejurnas circuit field in August and becoming the host. Young people who have motocross talent to get their place, this is the place, don’t speed on the highway,” he said.
Herman Deru added that if the interest of Motor Cross lovers is high and the Kejurnas event is successful, then this event will be upgraded to an international level.
“For now, the area of this grass track is already of national standard, which is 1.1 km, later there will be a grandstand here, so please for young people who like grass track motorbikes to channel their talents here,” he added, showing the standard quality of the arena.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of IMI South Sumatra, Alpian Maskoni, explained that this national standard circuit was prepared to welcome the National Championship which will be held on August 16, which will be attended by participants from all over Indonesia.
“We initiated the start of the grass track with the hope that in the future it can be used as a permanent circuit for drag races and road races in South Sumatra. The work is 80% complete, so our target is to finish next week,” said Alpian Maskoni.
In the same series of activities, the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru also reviewed the location that will be used as the JSC Automotive Exchange. This innovation was initiated by the management of Jakabaring Sport City as a place for car buying and selling transactions with an open showroom concept.
“Open showroom, one of JSC’s innovations for sellers and buyers to transact directly. Here, there will be leasing and banking facilities. For the time being, this is free, the goal is to facilitate transactions,” explained HD. (rys/ril)
