Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel), H. Herman Deru, emphasized the importance of the role of Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) in welcoming Indonesia’s demographic bonus in 2045. He conveyed this message while attending the Grand Recitation and Al-Qur’an Graduation at the An Nur Tebing Suluh Ponpes, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, Sunday (6/22/2025).
On that occasion, Herman Deru also attended the 4th Haul of Almaghfurlah Syekh Dr. KH. Noer Muhammad Iskandar, S.Q. Masyaikh. He invited all parents and administrators of Ponpes to prepare a young generation that is intelligent and has good morals.
“Islamic boarding schools are like craftsmen. Scrap iron is worthless, but when it is taken by a craftsman and forged, the iron becomes valuable. Well, this is the job of the caretaker of the Islamic boarding school,” said Deru.
“We imagine if this Islamic boarding school did not exist in South Sumatra, this government would not be able to organize its own education, especially those related to religious knowledge,” said H. Herman Deru. (rys/ril)
