PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru inaugurated the use of the At-Thoriq Mardhotillah Mosque which is located on Noerdin Pandji Street, Sukajaya District, Sukarame District, Palembang, Sunday (25/10) afternoon.
The ceremony was marked by the signing of the inscription and continued with the first congregational prayer, with the Imam Syeikh Hussein Jaber (Grand Imam of the Nabawi Mosque of Medina) who is also the brother of Sheikh Ali Jaber.
In his speech, Herman Deru gave a message to the management of the foundation At-Thoriq Mardhotillah Mosque. So that the existence of the mosque is prosperous with worship activities for Muslims without limiting it from schools or certain Islamic organizations. However, it is useful for all Muslims who wish to perform the five daily prayers or other sunnah worship activities.
“The existence of this mosque certainly adds to the means of worship of Muslims. It will be prosperous with the five daily prayers or other Islamic religious events. This mosque is for Muslims, not only for particular Islamic schools or organizations,” he said.
The continuity of the mosque, he continued, is a shared responsibility. For this reason, he asked the mosque management and the surrounding community to take part in glorifying and prospering the mosque.
“This is the responsibility of all of us. The prosperity of the mosque must be maintained. Do not let this magnificent mosque be empty. Therefore, do not clean the mosque. Including comfort and safety must be maintained,” he said.
Herman Deru thanked H. Wahyu Budiman and his extended family who have provided a good example and role model for other Muslims who have built the At-Thoriq Mardhotillah Mosque magnificently as a form of concern for the syiar and guidance for Muslims in Palembang City and its surroundings.
“Not everyone wants to set aside their assets to build a mosque. Of course we are very grateful and I hope this can be an example for us all. Doing good can be done in various ways, one of which is by maintaining and prospering the mosque that has been built,” he explained. .
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the At-Thoriq Mardhotillah Mosque Foundation Ustad KH Nawawi Dencik Al Hafidz hopes that this mosque will later be useful for Muslims to perform worship, as well as encourage the vision and mission of South Sumatra to become a religious area.
“We also express our gratitude to the governor who took his time to inaugurate this mosque. Hopefully this will benefit the people of South Sumatra and outside South Sumatra,” he concluded.
