Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas invited Muslims in Indonesia to imitate the Prophet who had provided best practices in building harmony among the people of Medina at that time.
“Harmony is a prerequisite for development. The good practice exemplified by the Prophet in Medina, Muslims should imitate in developing and advancing Indonesia amidst the diversity of its people,” he said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
Yaqut’s statement was delivered to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, which falls today.
He said that the Apostle was able to make Muslims live in harmony side by side with Jews and Christians, bound by the Medina Charter.
According to him, Indonesian Muslims have a big responsibility in maintaining the harmony of Indonesia. In fact, the world looks at Indonesia’s success in maintaining harmony and strengthening religious moderation.
“Indonesian harmony is our collective duty to care for and preserve. No nation can progress without harmony. For this reason, harmony is the main condition for the pace of development towards achieving gold,” he said.
In the spirit of Maulid, Minister of Religion Yaqut also invited Muslims to pray for the victims who died at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang and the flood in the South Jakarta area, especially the students of MTsN 19 Jakarta.
“May all their good deeds be accepted and all sins forgiven by Allah SWT,” he said.
The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, Kamaruddin Amin, said the commemoration of the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad was a momentum to remember and imitate the life history and struggle of the great Prophet.
“And the most important thing is to imitate morals and behavior in everyday life,” said Ria.
He is optimistic that imitating the morals of the Prophet can have a positive effect in the life of the nation and state. The Apostle succeeded in building a solid social order in the midst of a plural society with various tribes, religions, and tribes.
“Hopefully, by imitating the morals of the Prophet, it can become energy and spirit for all of us in strengthening the pace of development towards a strong and advanced Indonesia, because that is what Allah SWT wants,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
