Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The South Sumatra Provincial Government through the Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) of South Sumatra Province held the U-12 Children’s World Festival and the 2022 Governor’s Cup U-20 Football Championship in order to enliven the World Cup which will be held in Qatar later.
This was conveyed by Department of Youth and Sports, H. Rudi Irawan, S.sos, M.Si when giving his speech.
The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD), who directly opened the event, expressed his appreciation for the performance of the Prov. South Sumatra has been able to organize these activities.
HD also appreciates all the teams and officials who have attended and participated in the soccer competition, according to HD, the competition that was held was a natural selection which would later give birth to young soccer seeds in South Sumatra.
“This step is a step that we hope to improve the quality of our football on the national and international stage”, said HD.
HD also invited the invited guests who were present and the team participants and officials who participated in the competition to pay their respects to the victims of the Kanjuruhan stadium tragedy with a moment of silence.
In order to make the One Million Ball Movement a success carried out by the government with the aim of providing facilities so that the football team can continue to practice, on that occasion HD handed over the ball symbolically to the team representative.
To note that the South Sumatra U-12 Children’s World Festival was attended by 48 Soccer Schools in South Sumatra which was held on 7 to 8 November 2022 and the U-20 Football match was held on 9 to 17 November 2022. (mhn/ril)
