Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Starting his work agenda Tuesday (18/08/20) morning, South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru symbolically received Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assistance for the Team for the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling of Covid 19 in South Sumatra Province from PT Telkom in the Bina Praja Auditorium.
According to HD, of the many providers in South Sumatra, only Telkomsel has been tapped to provide assistance to the Provincial Government to cope with the Covid pandemic. He also hopes that Telkomsel’s action today can trigger other telecommunication companies to do the same.
“The provincial government, of course, is very grateful for providing convenience to the region. We know that there are many providers who are doing business here, but only Telkomsel is one of the ones that has been moved. Hopefully this will become a trigger for other providers,” he said.
For Covid funds, HD admitted that it did not budget emotionally. This is none other than so that it can knock the hearts of all parties about togetherness in tackling the pandemic.
“We have hundreds of Puskesmas, and thousands of Supporting Puskesmas (Pustu). Due to limitations we cannot detect prospective patients. That’s why PPE assistance is needed to save health workers,” he explained.
Apart from appreciating this assistance, Governor Herman Deru also advised Telkomsel to improve the network in South Sumatra so that blankspots would not occur again. Especially during a pandemic, signal strength is needed for the public and school children who are learning online.
In the same place, MASS Market Segment Sales Operation Regional West Sumatra Telkomsel Dheny Haryanto said that the pandemic has changed many habits, including social aspects as well as in the world of telecommunications.
“Central and South Sumatra policies increasingly make us have to adapt. That’s why we, as a red and white company, try to contribute to distributing PPE assistance because it is very important for health fighters,” he explained.
With this contribution, he hopes that the South Sumatra Provincial Government and all people can continue to be strong and healthy so that they can continue to move forward for Indonesia.
The 770 PPE packages provided this time include hazmat covers, face shields, surgical gowns, shoe covers, head covers and non-medical masks.
Attending the occasion accompanied the Governor of South Sumatra, namely Acting Assistant I for Government and People’s Welfare for the South Sumatra Regional Secretariat Akhmad Najib, Head of the South Sumatra Communication and Information Service Achmad Rizwan S.STP MM. As well as from Telkomsel respectively the Manager of Network Service for Telkomsel Palembang, Untung Basuki and Regional Corporate Communication for South Sumatra Telkomsel, Gumilar Hendra Nugraha Ali.
