PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H Mawardi Yahya emphasized that currently the South Sumatra Provincial Government is still trying to boost the growth of MSMEs which had decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was conveyed by Mawardi when receiving a working visit from the Director of Digital Indonesia Blessing Endang Wasiati Wierono to discuss solutions to help the MSME (UMKM) sector go digital easily in the Deputy Governor’s living room, Tuesday (18/8).
Mawardi said UMKM is indeed one of the sectors that are quite affected by Covid-19. Therefore, the role of various parties is needed so that the UMKM sector will revive.
“Of course we are still taking various steps through the relevant agencies so that these MSMEs develop so that they can again contribute to increasing economic growth,” said Mawardi.
The MSME sector is indeed considered to be a barrier to the pace of the economy, including during the current pandemic.
“The existence of this UMKM must be maintained because it has a very big influence on the economy,” he said.
On the other hand, at the meeting, PT Berkat Digital Indonesia was known to have a commitment to support the South Sumatra Provincial Government in encouraging the development of MSMEs by accommodating MSME players so they could carry out their business activities via digital or online.
This commitment was also welcomed by Mawardi. It’s just that, he continued, it still has to do a thorough study and preparation so that its implementation can have a good impact on these MSME players.
“What is certain is that we really welcome it. Maybe it can be included in the program of the Cooperative and UKM Service. But we also have to select which UMKM the website provides for its business so that its implementation runs well. What is clear is that MSMEs must be serious,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director of PT Berkat Digital Indonesia Endang Wasiati Wierono revealed that his party’s commitment to participate in encouraging the development of MSMEs was based on seeing the number of MSMEs forced to go out of business due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Currently we see that many MSMEs are affected both in terms of sales and development. We, as part of the stakeholders, certainly feel called,” said Endang.
According to the woman who is familiarly called Een, the party is ready to provide a website for every UMKM so that they can do online marketing.
“Before this pandemic, MSMEs were the largest foreign exchange earners. Therefore, we want MSMEs to rise again. We are ready to provide a website and provide education to MSMEs from the easiest to the highest level so that these MSMEs can do online marketing,” She said.
Not only that, she also appreciated the steps of the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru, who did not hesitate to directly promote the products of UMKM in South Sumatra for free with the hope that MSMEs could develop again.
“The governor’s move to endorse UMKM products is very appropriate. And we appreciate the initiation. It is time for us to move together so that these MSMEs can grow again, especially through online marketing. Currently, UMKM traffic has gone online,” she explained.
“This online system certainly has no restrictions like offline. This online system can be done by anyone and anywhere for 24 hours,” she concluded. (ojn/hms)
