Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The COVID-19 Handling Task Force said as many as 14,013,132 residents had received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccination as of 12.00 WIB.
The number of vaccinations for the third dose (booster), was obtained after an increase of 326,976 people.
The second dose also increased by 487,103 people, bringing the total number of residents who received the second dose to 150,280,634 people.
Furthermore, as many as 193,014,314 people have received the first dose, after the addition of 237,353 people.
Previously, Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said the vaccination rate showed a downward trend.
Based on government vaccine data processed from the Our World in Data page as of March 6, 2022, the number of people who have been vaccinated with the complete dose is only 53.5 percent, while the number of people who have been vaccinated for the first time has reached 69.48 percent, or almost 70 percent of the population.
In fact, said Wiku, all parties must remain disciplined in carrying out health protocols including vaccination in order to protect themselves from the worst risks of COVID-19 even though the current condition has started to improve and is under control.
Therefore, Wiku requested that the entire community continue to immediately vaccinate so that vulnerable groups such as the elderly, comorbid sufferers and children can be protected from the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
“It is very important to protect the elderly and vulnerable groups by tightening health protocols and increasing full-dose vaccination coverage,” said Wiku. (mhn/bbs)
