56.4 million Indonesians receive booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 stated that 56,424,541 Indonesians had received a booster or booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, after an increase of 299,737 people from Tuesday to 12.00 WIB.

According to data from the Task Force received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday, the number of recipients of the second dose increased by 52,209, bringing the total to 170,136,611 people.

While the achievement of dose one, now there are 202,546,668 people who have received it. An increase of 61,000 people from the previous day.

The Task Force stated that as many as 208,265,720 people have been designated as government targets in expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination, in order to maintain antibodies and reduce virus transmission.

Responding to the development of giving booster vaccinations for the community, Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril said on Monday (1/8) that the administration of the fourth or second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine for the public was waiting for the coverage of the first booster vaccination to reach up to 50 percent of the target.

“For the public, wait, our priority is currently the first booster vaccine, currently it’s only 26.8 percent, our target is 50 percent. The Minister asks for up to 70 percent. To the community, let’s increase coverage together,” he said.

To this day, the second booster has only been given to health workers whose antibodies have started to decline. The second booster vaccine will be given to 1.9 million health workers.

Meanwhile, information for the elderly and comorbid patients, regarding the administration of the next dose of vaccination will follow.

It is hoped that the public can also wait for further information regarding the provision of COVID-19 vaccination to children under the age of six, who are currently still waiting for the review and recommendation of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee (Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization/ITAGI).
