Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – SOE (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir revealed that the government has big dreams of connecting the tip of Aceh to Lampung on Sumatra Island with the Trans Sumatra Toll Road to bring about new economic growth.
“Our big dream is to connect Sumatra, from the tip of Aceh to Lampung. The hope is that new economic growth can emerge in the areas that are passed through,” Erick said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday.
SOEs as a third of the nation’s economic power, Erick has focused since the beginning on translating Jokowi’s direction in improving infrastructure such as toll roads on the island of Java and outside Java such as the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).
According to him, infrastructure plays an important role so that Indonesia can compete with other countries.
“The president is very concerned about this. If we look at it, Indonesia’s logistics costs are still quite high, reaching 23 percent or higher than the world average of 13 percent,” he said.
Erick said, the progress of infrastructure progress is certainly the fruit of the synergy of many parties, including the Ministry of PUPR. He said that he was intensely communicating with PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in overseeing the progress of the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road.
Previously, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) targeted five Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) sections to be completed this year, including the Indralaya – Muara Enim Simpang Toll Road, Indrapura – Kisaran, Binjai – Langsa, Sigli – Banda Aceh Toll Road, and Pekanbaru – Padang Toll Road. .
Director of Operations III Hutama Karya Koentjoro said that the progress of the entire toll road segment has been quite significant, with an average of over 50 percent.
Until now Hutama Karya has built the Trans Sumatra Toll Road with a length of approximately 1,064 km with 465 km of construction toll roads and 599 km of operational toll roads.
The presence of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road is a means for macro and micro economic growth in Sumatra. This is in line with the government’s mission to support equitable economic growth.
As for Hutama Karya’s strategy in accelerating the completion of this segment by using technology and digitizing construction for the right quality and time. (mhn/bbs)
