Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the confirmation of the presence of leaders of countries and regions of G20 members was very high for the G20 Summit, Bali, 15-16 November 2022.
“Currently, the presence of leaders is very high, some are still waiting for confirmation due to special situations,” said Foreign Minister Retno at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday.
However, Retno was reluctant to elaborate on the specific number of G20 leaders who confirmed their attendance at the G20 Summit in Bali, next November.
Regarding several countries that have not provided confirmation, Retno said this was due to special situations. For example, the Brazilian leader has not confirmed his attendance, because the election situation in the country has entered the second stage. The new president of Brazil will take office on January 1, 2023.
“We are still waiting from Brazil who will come,” she said.
Retno also confirmed that the new leaders of the G20 countries, such as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, had confirmed their attendance.
“We also received confirmation of the presence of the two new G20 leaders, the British PM and also from Italy who had just entered and I have reported it to the president,” she said.
Most of the leaders of the G20 countries and regions, said Retno, will arrive in Bali on November 14, 2022.
“And on average they will leave Bali on 16 afternoon or 16 November 2022 because some of the leaders will also fly to Bangkok to attend the APEC Summit,” said Retno.
Before attending the G20 Summit, President Jokowi will first visit Cambodia to attend the ASEAN Summit, and after the G20, the President will go to Bangkok, Thailand to attend the APEC Summit.
“How strict is the program that will be carried out by the president, plus there are so many requests for bilateral meetings,” she said. (mhn/bbs)
