HD: Health Protocol Education is the Key to South Sumatra’s Economy Surviving the Pandemic

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru received a working visit from the Chairman of the Commission XI House of Representative (DPR RI) and members in the framework of the recess of Commission XI DPR RI for the third session of the 2020-2021 session with the agenda for economic recovery in the South Sumatra region during the Covid-19 Pandemic at the Arista Hotel Palembang, Monday (15/2/2021).

On that occasion, HD conveyed that economic growth in South Sumatra amid the pandemic was relatively stable compared to other parts of Indonesia.

“This condition can be realized due to the participation of the South Sumatra community who have high awareness to comply with health protocols, so that activities and economic activities in South Sumatra can still run”, said HD.

In addition to providing regular warnings and education to the public, HD also said of course that economic growth in South Sumatra can be maintained due to the role of the central government which has provided Social Assistance funds to the community and these funds are channeled properly and on target,

“added KUR absorption in South Sumatra. Very good so that it has a good impact on economic growth in South Sumatra, “said HD.

“What’s more, the public’s trust in vaccines has returned because of the education we have done together (regional leaders). Of course this will inspire people to be able to return to activities which will certainly have an impact on economic development in South Sumatra”, he added.

HD also hopes that the Commission XI DPR RI can help him with the problem of micro waqf banks so that the requirements can be facilitated so that this problem can be resolved quickly.

Regarding advances in technology, HD hopes that banking services in the regions can be reproduced and licensing simplified, “Because there are still some areas that still do not have ATM machines, even though there are quite a lot of money circulation activities there”, said HD.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Commission XI DPR RI Team, Dr. Achmad Hatari, SE., M.Si said that their aim to attend and provide work allowances in South Sumatra was to see firsthand the state and economic conditions in the South Sumatra region amidst pandemic conditions like this.

“As well as monitoring the South Sumatra Provincial Government in taking steps and policies in realizing the National Economic Recovery (PEN)”, he said.
