PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru invited the TNI in the ranks of the Regional Military Command II / Sriwijaya to be directly involved in maintaining South Sumatra food security. He considered the contribution of the TNI which has been running so far, especially in inviting farmers to make innovation efforts in the field of agriculture.
“Maintaining food security in South Sumatra is also one of the TNI’s duties. This contribution must also be increased through innovations that are on the side of farmers. For example, engineering agricultural equipment to make it easier for farmers,” he said after attending the 75th TNI anniversary ceremony virtually from the Headquarters. Sriwijaya Regional Military Command II, Monday (5/10).
He hopes that through the innovation carried out by the TNI in the agricultural sector, it will be able to minimize farmers’ production costs. Especially when the infrastructure conditions roads in South Sumatra that are already in good condition are expected to further improve the welfare of the community.
“Nevertheless, he assessed that so far the performance of the TNI ranks in South Sumatra has been very good. Including in terms of maintaining stability and security together with the Police and the community,” he added.
In connection with the 75th anniversary of the TNI, Herman Deru congratulated the TNI and still hopes that the TNI can adapt to the increasingly fast and dynamic times.
“Change is not only physical, but also comprehensive in all lines. Because, it is our capital in maintaining national defense,” said HD.
Meanwhile, Pangdam II Sriwijaya, Maj. Gen. Agus Suhardi, said that until now the TNI ranks have continued to be committed to maintaining the integrity of the nation.
“Our success in safeguarding this sovereignty cannot be separated from the role of all parties, including local governments. So far, the coordination has been very good and orderly,” said the Pangdam.
Previously, virtually the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, also said that he was very supportive of the transformation and organizational changes in the TNI institution.
In fact, he emphasized that the transformation and organizational change must be supported by technological transformation with qualified personnel.
“We must prepare steps for future battles in various sectors. Now, it must be supported by strong personnel. For that, we need a professional, educated and trained TNI so that the assigned task can run well,” said Jokowi.
In its journey, he continued, the TNI had demonstrated its credibility as the main guardian in maintaining the integrity of the nation and state.
“The TNI has a long history and has had a major contribution in overcoming various problems that have occurred. In fact, the TNI is ready to help people affected by the disaster. This means that the role of the TNI is indeed needed. I have high hopes and support this transportation,” he concluded. (imf/ril)
