PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H Herman Deru asked students in South Sumatra to improve their skills in the field of Science and Technology (IPTEK), especially in today’s digital world. Digital technology is considered effective if it is used as a means of propagating Islam.
Especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic, many Islamic boarding schools have implemented an online or online learning system from home. In these conditions, of course, the role of digital technology is very important.
“On this national student day, we are going through the trials of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Islamic boarding schools are forced to send their students home and choose to implement a long distance learning system through an online system. Therefore, we should not give up on using online learning facilities,” said Governor Herman Herman. Roar, when giving a briefing while attending the peak of the National Santri Day which was held at Campus 3 of the Muqimus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School, Palembang, Thursday (22/10).
According to Herman Deru, although on a limited scale learning online. However, students still have to be grateful that during a pandemic like now, the existence of digital technology has developed rapidly.
“However, because of the greatness of Allah SWT, the development of IT emerged so that the learning system and working from home can be done online,” he said.
In addition, he also hopes that the community will increase their gratitude for Allah SWT’s blessings, so that this year the forest and land fires (karhutla) disaster in South Sumatra does not occur.
“Gratitude is not only done when we can overcome disasters, but when we are free from disasters, we must also be grateful. We must not forget the blessings given by Allah SWT,” he said.
Deru explained, currently based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) in South Sumatra, it is in the normal stage.
“When viewed from the ISPU, the air in South Sumatra is still normal. No forest and land fires have occurred. Apart from public awareness and hard work of all parties, South Sumatra’s freedom from forest and land fires is due to the grace of Allah SWT,” he explained.
On the other hand, HD also thanked all parties involved in the National Santri Day activities. Because even though it was held in a pandemic atmosphere, it could still take place by still implementing health protocols.
“We thank you because this activity continues to apply health protocols. As an appreciation, we provide an operational car unit for this pesantren,” he said.
The manager of the Muqimus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School in Palembang, expressed his gratitude for Herman Deru’s attention to the world of Ponpes education in South Sumatra. Because through the Ponpes, there will be a generation who master not only worldly knowledge but also religious knowledge.
“Thank you for the governor’s attention. Including your attention by helping to provide this operational car,” he said.
According to him, this National Santri Day will be a momentum to further increase faith.
“Of course, faith must be further enhanced. We will also help the government in building this South Sumatra to be better,” he concluded.
