Herman Deru wants SMKN Batumarta to be an example

BATUMARTA, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru directly reviewed the construction of the Batumarta State Vocational High School (SMK) in Karya Makmur Batumarta Village Unit 8, Madang Suku III District, East OKU Regency, Sunday (20/9) afternoon.

This was done to ensure that the progress of the SMK development was going well and according to plan. Where the construction is, we have entered the roofing stage, floors, windows and doors.

“I want to see first hand how far the progress has been and ensure that the implementation of this development is going well,” said HD.

He said that development is one of the focuses of the South Sumatra Provincial Government at this time. This includes education in the fields of road infrastructure, agriculture, health and education which are being realized. With the development and upgrading of school infrastructure, it is hoped that it can further improve the quality of education in South Sumatra so that later it can produce competitive Human Resources (HR).

“Education is also our priority. I hope that this Vocational School will not only be used as a place to look for diplomas, but can produce quality human resources who are ready to work and able to compete,” he explained.

In fact, he also wants this Batumarta Vocational High School to become a pilot school.

“There must be areas that are highlighted. That means, I hope this SMK can be known for its quality and can be a model for other schools,” he explained.

The education sector has been a priority for Herman Deru from the start. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the South Sumatra Provincial Government, which was commanded by HD, collaborated with one of the providers to hold the Independent Distance Learning (MBJJ) program in South Sumatra Province. This program is expected to be able to become a solution to equal access to distance education, especially for non-elite communities.

According to him, the current educational poses that apply online learning must be able to run without having to burden parents.

“Currently teaching and learning activities apply the system from home. We have provided a solution by providing a cheap quota package. People can get a quota of 30GB for only Rp.10. The quota is specifically used for learning,” he said.

Meanwhile, about the signal which is currently one of the obstacles in online learning activities, HD has asked all vocational schools in South Sumatra to make this signal amplifier.

“Previously, I challenged SMK in South Sumatra to make a signal amplifier. Hopefully we will launch it in the near future. I hope the public’s complaints regarding the inj signal will be answered,” he added.

It is known, in between the reviews HD also provided assistance to accelerate the construction of the Vocational High School, amounting to Rp. 2 billion. In addition, assistance worth Rp.335 million was also given to 335 South Sumatra students in East OKU who were affected by Covid-19, as well as assistance of approximately Rp.26 billion.

On the other hand, HD also reviewed and launched infrastructure development and improvement of the Batumarta Unit II Kotanegara road section, Madang Suku II District, East OKU Regency. (nfl/ril)
