Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesia had succeeded in reducing stunting or chronic malnutrition to 21.6 percent, and increasing the Human Development Index (IPM) to 72.9 in 2022.
“Increase the Human Development Index to 72.9 in 2022, increase the Gender Empowerment Index to 76.5 in 2022, and prepare a total social protection budget from 2015 to 2023 of IDR 3,212 trillion,” said President Jokowi during his speech at the Annual Session of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly. and the 2023 Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to Jokowi, a number of these achievements were the result of efforts to prepare human resources (HR).
In the 2015-2023 social protection budget, said Jokowi, there are a number of programs such as the Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS), Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), College KIP, Family Hope Program (PKH), Basic Food Cards, and protection for the elderly.
Within the budget, the Government also implements efforts for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, as well as training and capacity building or re-skilling and up-skilling of the workforce through job training centers and the Pre-Employment Card Program.
In line with that, said Jokowi, the government is preparing Indonesian human resources to get jobs so they can increase national productivity.
Indonesian human resources, said Jokowi, can also develop new economic sectors that provide a large number of jobs and added value as much as possible.
The Head of State said that the preparation of superior human resources was also aimed at increasing Indonesia’s credibility and gaining international trust.
“Indonesia’s voice will be heard more so that it will make it easier for us to negotiate. We must be able to take advantage of this opportunity (international trust). It will be a big loss for us if we miss this opportunity because not all countries have it and it is not certain that we will have it again,” said President Jokowi. (mhn/bbs)
