Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan emphasized that by 2023 ministries/agencies and local governments must have prepared a budget for the procurement of electric vehicles for official vehicles.
“Next year, all procurement for all vehicles must be included in electric vehicles, no more combustion cars (no more conventional vehicles),” Luhut said at BNI Investor Daily 2022 in Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to Luhut, the use of battery-based electric vehicles has been carried out at this time. However, since the fiscal year is coming to an end, he said its full implementation will be carried out next year.
“From now on, it’s still small, right. (In 2022) there are only two months left, but next year it will be implemented immediately,” he said.
Previously, the government encouraged the acceleration of the use of electric vehicles through Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery Electric Vehicles (Battery Electric Vehicles) as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Vehicles for Central Government Agencies and Regional Governments.
The government encourages central and local government agencies to become role models for the use of electric vehicles in their respective regions.
In the Presidential Instruction, Luhut is lined up to command the use of electric vehicles in the government environment.
Luhut was also asked to solve problems that hinder the implementation of the accelerated implementation of the program for using battery electric vehicles (battery electric vehicles) as operational service vehicles, and/or individual vehicles for central and regional government agencies.
In addition, Luhut is also obliged to report the implementation of Presidential Instruction 7/2022 to Jokowi periodically every 6 months, or at any time if necessary. (mhn/bbs)
