Mawardi Yahya Wants Villages in South Sumatra Become Independent Villages

PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – The Village Fund Program that is disbursed by the Central Government through the APBN every year is expected to be able to advance the people’s economy in the village by exploiting the potential that exists in each village. So that in the future the villages in South Sumatra (Sumsel) will become independent villages.

This hope was expressed by the Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, Ir H. Mawardi Yahya when opening the Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) for the Activities of the Provincial Government and Village Empowerment Service (PMD). South Sumatra Fiscal Year 2020-2021 takes place in the Provincial Government Binapraja meeting room. South Sumatra, Monday (26/10) morning.

“The funds disbursed by the government to the village should not only be built by physical facilities. I see the footpath. If it is complete, the physical building will divert at least 65 percent for community economic empowerment activities or for the service sector,” said the Deputy Governor.

Furthermore, he hopes that the working meeting will equalize the perception and synchronization of programs between the Provincial PMD and each PMD in the Regency / City.

“PMD should not go on its own terms because based on the supervision regulations, the management of village funds is directly under the guidance of the Provincial Government. Including the supervisory authority is also under the control of the Provincial Government. Incidentally, the Deputy Governor is assigned to coordinate this field of supervision,” he added.

Mawardi added that village heads (Kades) and other village officials must be creative in making their main programs related to community empowerment efforts.

“Direct village funds to increase the economy. Looking for opportunities to increase village cash income by utilizing the village potential. So that later village independence will be created. This of course must also be supported by increasing village human resources by recruiting scholars in the village concerned,” he hoped.

For this reason, the Deputy Governor hopes that there will be community involvement in every program that is carried out. Therefore, he invited all parties to improve, starting from program preparation, village fund management, reporting and other financial administration.

Meanwhile, Head of the South Sumatra Provincial PMD Office H. Wilson S. Sos in his report said that the Rakernis was held with the aim of socializing the activities of the South Sumatra Province PMD as well as an evaluation event. In order to create synergy between the Provincial PMD and Regency / Municipal PMD.
