Meeting with the Chairman of DPD RI, Herman Deru, Describes Three Priority Programs of South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru held a working meeting with the Chairman of the DPD RI LaNyala Mahmud Mattalitti, Deputy Chair of the DPD RI Sultan B. Najamudin and DPD RI members at Griya Agung Palembang, Monday (21/9).

As for the arrival of the Chairman of the DPD RI and its members in order to absorb the aspirations of the local community as well as monitoring, including in the context of economic recovery due to the Covid-19 pandemic In addition, they also intend to know the progress of regional development through economic activities and investment in the Province of South Sumatra.

On that occasion, Governor Herman Deru said he was proud of the presence of the Chairperson of the DPD RI, the Deputy Chair of the DPD RI and the Chair of the Committee. According to him, this was a breath of fresh air for South Sumatra.

“I am proud that everything is complete here, this is the commitment of the DPD RI that immediately descends into the field that being more aggressive and seeking information is not just accepting this is certainly a breath of fresh air for us. This means that the DPD RI is not a place to ask questions and convey aspirations but DPD RI also helps solve problems, “he said.

South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Province of South Sumatra had refocused the budget according to regional conditions so that development was still ongoing.

“We are confusing it by conditioning it with regional conditions so that development continues. I also always have discussions with the South Sumatra DPRD and Alhamdulilah in this refocusing period, nothing is too late,” he said.

Besides that, Herman Deru conveyed several priority programs during his two years of leadership with Deputy Governor Mawardi Yahya. There are at least three priority programs that have been carried out, namely road infrastructure in the agricultural sector and increasing economic growth during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“During the past 2 years in my leadership with the Deputy Governor, I have still concentrated on building infrastructure that is evenly distributed to remote villages, as well as improving agriculture and driving the economy,” he said.

In addition to infrastructure development, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, continued HD, economic growth or recovery was also a focus, including in the fields of agriculture, plantations and MSMEs.

“We are among the highest on the island of Sumatra. The current economic recovery is to empower MSMEs, not only provided with capital but skills including marketing. Even I was called the endorse governor, this is also one of the defense of the economy through MSMEs,” he said.

“Agriculture and plantations in South Sumatra are also getting better. If agriculture is a surplus, we are one of the fifth largest food-producing provinces in Indonesia,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of DPD RI LaNyala Mahmud Mattalitti thanked the South Sumatra Provincial Government for holding this work meeting.

He explained that in the central and regional relations, the DPD RI has to mediate and facilitate between the Central Government and Regional Governments in terms of regional autonomy, natural and economic resource management. As well as financial considerations between the center and the regions.

“DPD RI also heard the aspirations of regional stakeholders including business and industry because the aim of being a Regional Representative is to make the region an economic powerhouse. Currently we are also proposing a draft law on investment in the region,” he said. (nfl/ril)
