Minister of Trade: Prices of staple goods in Surabaya are stable

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the price of staple goods in Surabaya, East Java was stable and the supply was sufficient.

“We inspected the Tambahrejo Market today. From this review, we found that the prices for bapok (basic needs) are stable and supplies are available. Chicken, eggs, chilies, onions are all stable. Even eggs and chicken are a bit cheap,” said Zulkifli in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday.

The government continues to make efforts so that people can obtain staple goods, including cooking oil and rice, at affordable prices and in adequate supply.

At the Addrejo Market, Surabaya, Monday (6/2), the Surabaya City Government also held a Bulog rice market operation. In this market operation, the public can buy rice directly from Bulog at a price of IDR 8,600/kg.

Zulkifli said that the government is currently prioritizing the sale of OilKita cooking oil to the people’s market. The goal is that the lower middle class can obtain cooking oil at affordable prices.

“So now it will be prioritized for the market,” said Zulkifli.

Based on monitoring, commodities whose prices were observed to be stable when compared to the previous week’s data (27/1) included medium rice Rp. 11,000/kg, premium rice Rp. 12,000/kg, granulated sugar Rp. 13,000/kg, red cayenne pepper Rp. 000/kg, and beef Rp. 110,000/kg.

On the other hand, commodities whose prices were observed to fall included packaged cooking oil, which a week earlier was Rp. 20,000/liter to Rp. 16,000–19,000/liter, purebred chicken eggs which were previously Rp. 28,000/kg to Rp. 27,000/kg, and chilies. large red from IDR 30,000/kg to IDR 25,000/kg.

Meanwhile, OilKita was observed to be priced at IDR 15,000/liter and bulk cooking oil at IDR 14,400/liter (above the highest retail price of IDR 14,000/liter). Then, purebred chicken is priced at Rp. 32,000/kg (still below the reference price of Rp. 36,750/kg), shallots at Rp. 35,000/kg (below the reference price of Rp. 41,500/kg), and garlic for Rp. 30,000 /kg.

To face the fasting month and Eid 2023, coordination between institutions and local governments will be carried out again as it was during Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023.

Zulkifli Hasan added, monitoring of prices and supply availability must be intensified by the central government, institutions and local governments. To control inflation, the Ministry of Trade will continue to work with local governments to optimize maritime counters and warehouse receipt systems. (mhn/bbs)
