Minister Sandiaga: Tourist visits to Bali reach 10 thousand per day

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said tourist visits to Bali reached an average of 10 thousand people per day.

“(Overall) 894,667 foreign tourist visits to Bali during January-August 2022,” he said at a press conference that was monitored virtually, Jakarta, Monday.

Despite the threat of an economic recession, Sandiaga ensured that the target of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia of 1.8-3.6 million people could be achieved at the middle threshold of around 2.5 million people.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy further emphasized that the target of foreign tourists and domestic tourists (wisnus) visits will be increased in 2023 by increasing the number of flights.

“For foreign tourists, the target is 1.4 billion people. We are far behind compared to countries like China and Australia, whose foreign tourist visits are also much higher than ours,” said Sandiaga.

He hopes that investors in the tourism and creative economy sectors (parekraf) can invest in various leading sectors such as hotels, restaurants and cafes.

His party is targeting an investment of US$6-8 billion in five Super Priority Destinations (DSP), eight Special Economic Zones (KEK), and three sustainable tourism destinations.

“If the investment target is achieved, it will create 4.4 million jobs in 2024,” said Sandiaga Uno. (mhn/bbs)
