Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo stated that he would continue to do his best to find and rescue the crew of the submarine KRI Nanggala-402 who were declared drowned (“subsink”) in the waters north of Bali Island.
“They are the best sons and daughters of the nation, the best patriots who guard the country’s sovereignty. All the best efforts to search and rescue have been and are still going to do, ”said President Jokowi in a press statement uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat, monitored in Jakarta, Sunday.
The President invited the entire community to say the best prayers for the 53 crew members, as well as all family members of the crew so that they will always be given courage, patience and strength.
“This tragedy shocked all of us, not only the family of 53 crew members, the Hiu Kencana (Submarine Corps) family, as well as the extended family of the Indonesian Navy, but also the entire Indonesian people. We all Indonesian people convey deep sorrow, especially to the families of submarine crews, “said the President.
Indonesian Military Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto in a press conference in Bali, Saturday (24/4), said the status of KRI Nanggala-402 had become sub sunk (drowned) after the search team conducted a search for 72 hours.
Last Saturday was the search for the third day since KRI Nanggala-402 was declared missing contact on Wednesday (21/4) in the morning in the waters on the north side of Bali Island. Saturday morning is also the deadline for life support in the form of oxygen availability for the KRI Nanggala crew, which is 72 hours, if the electricity on the ship is completely blackout.
Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono said that if the electricity is still on, it is possible that the oxygen capacity in the ship will be available for up to 5 days and will run out more or less on Monday (26/4).
Yudo said the search for vessels is currently concentrated in nine points in the waters north of Bali, which is about 40 kilometers from the coast of Celukan Bawang, Buleleng Regency.
The nine points were the focus areas for the investigation because the search team had found an oil spill and detected a strong magnetic force. (ray/bbs)
