President urges travelers to leave early to avoid the peak of the homecoming flow

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo has appealed to travelers to leave early for their respective hometowns, to avoid the peak of the Eid al-Fitr 1433 H homecoming which is expected to take place on April 28, 29 and 30, 2022.

The President in an appeal video regarding Eid homecoming broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday said the Ministry of Transportation has conducted a survey and the results are estimated that 23 million cars and 17 million motorcycles will be used by travelers during the homecoming season of Eid Al-Fitr 1433 H.

“This is a very large number and it is estimated that there will be severe congestion. Therefore, I invite the public to avoid the peak of the homecoming flow on April 28, 29 and 30, 2022,” he said.

The President said that the government had made a number of anticipations to help smooth the flow of homecoming for Eid Al-Fitr 1433 H, which was the first time that the government was openly permitted to do so after two years, this was not recommended in the midst of the unfavorable COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The head of state gave examples of these anticipations, including the odd-even rule, the implementation of one direction and the prohibition for trucks to use toll roads.

“Therefore, I invite the public to go home earlier, of course adjusting to the holiday schedule from work,” said the President.

The President also advised the public to continue to practice health protocols in order to maintain the good situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic during homecoming and return trips as well as when celebrating Eid Al-Fitr 1433 H.

This year, the government will allow people to travel back and forth for Eid by emphasizing COVID-19 vaccination as a condition.

For residents who have fulfilled the COVID-19 vaccination up to the third dose or booster, there is no need to show any conditions when traveling back and forth.

Meanwhile, residents who have just received the second dose of vaccination are asked to complete the requirements for the results of the antigen test and PCR test for those who have just received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Previously, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin conveyed the government’s new policy for teenagers and children under 18 years old, who do not meet the requirements to receive a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination, can travel back and forth without the need to show the results of the PCR or antigen test as long as they have received a booster dose. underwent a second dose of vaccination.
